Tandigm Health and TouchCare team up to connect patients with their primary care physicians via virtual video connection

October 26, 2015 – GLOBE NEWSWIRE – In an innovative new partnership, Tandigm Health is working with leading mobile health company TouchCare to enable more than 350 Philadelphia-area primary care physicians to connect patients from their mobile device or tablet to them. The partnership embodies the best elements of Tandigm Health’s “tradition meets innovation” motto, empowering physicians so that their patients can lead healthier lives, facilitating continuity of care, and enhancing the all-important doctor-patient relationship.

The partnership leverages TouchCare’s HIPAA-compliant mobile telemedicine app as part of Tandigm Health’s ongoing mission to deliver high value health care, delivered how and when people need it. Together, the two companies will work to improve continuity of care by providing an additional way for doctors to securely communicate with their patients using their mobile device. The convenient video option is a great supplement to in-office appointments, particularly for test results, medication refills, chronic illness management and more. The TouchCare platform also provides a straightforward, direct communication channel for primary care physicians and specialists to engage and coordinate care on behalf of their patients.

The first phase of the partnership will focus on select high-risk patients, who already engage telephonically with Tandigm Health’s Care Team, and whose care could be enhanced by remote real-time, face-to-face interaction. The first phase will also include Tandigm Health medical directors using TouchCare to engage with participating primary care physicians to assist in care coordination. As the program continues, it will roll out TouchCare to additional Tandigm Health patients for both provider-to-patient and provider-to-provider communication.

“Medicine and the doctor-patient relationship are very personal. Enabling our primary care physicians to connect with their patients face to face by video keeps the care personal, but also provides both access and convenience,” said Anthony Coletta, M.D., M.B.A., Tandigm Health’s president and CEO. “Enabling our physicians and care teams to connect to their own patients, as well as to other health providers for video calls on TouchCare, helps create truly connected communities of care. This approach embodies combining the best parts of things new and old to create an exceptional health care experience for our patients.”

“Tandigm Health is a truly innovative organization that is constantly focused on ways to improve the lives of its patients,” said Damian Gilbert, founder and CEO of TouchCare. “TouchCare and Tandigm Health share a common vision of connected communities of care, where patients, providers and all stakeholders have the ability to easily and seamlessly communicate to ensure continuous, convenient, cost effective care. Using TouchCare on a mobile device as a single place where patients can connect to all of their health care providers is a powerful vision, especially in Philadelphia, one of the largest and most expensive health care markets in the United States. We’re delighted to partner with Tandigm Health to make this vision a reality.”

The TouchCare app is an easy to use solution for any health care provider – from solo practitioners to large clinics or hospitals to improve the quality of care, save time and money, and improve patient satisfaction. The app is available with a simple download from the App Store and Google Play.

Riverside Medical Associates, a Rural Health Clinic based at Michigan, Receives ICD-10 Reimbursement Through iPatientCare EHR and Practice Management/Billing System

iPatientCare Announced Riverside Medical Associates, Michigan, Receiving the ICD-10 Reimbursement using iPatientCare’s Cloud-based EHR and Institutional Billing System

PRWEB – October 13, 2015 – iPatientCare, Inc., a pioneer in mHealth and cloud-based ambulatory EHR and integrated Institutional Practice Management System for a Rural Health Clinic (RHC), announced today that Riverside Medical Associates has received the first reimbursement against ICD-10 coded claims using iPatientCare’s ICD-10 Ready EHR and PM System.

Located in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Riverside Medical Associates is a Rural Health Clinic and their highly experienced providers deliver the best medical care in the Sault Ste. Marie area. Riverside specializes in providing all patients with a family practice, including obstetrics, pediatrics, geriatrics, and general medicine.

Udayan Mandavia, CEO/President, iPatientCare, commented cheerfully, “We were prepared with our dual-coding EHR and PM System even last year but the deadline for implementing ICD-10 was pushed to October 1, 2015. We were prepared better this year with our approach of highly empowered Task-Force which worked very closely with each of our practice/RHC in ensuring that they had learned the new coding system, migrated their data to ICD-10, utilized the system’s dual coding feature all through the year, and performed rigorous end-to-end testing. Riverside Medical Associates are fairly large and reputed Rural Health Clinic in Michigan and our long-term customers. We are extremely happy to announce that they win the honour of being the very first recipient of the payment against ICD-10 coded claims.”

“iPatientCare’s intelligent mapping and migration utilities from ICD-9 to ICD-10, the dual-coding system made available early enough to get familiar, numerous training Webcasts and documentation, and the agile support all through the final days made it easy for us to prepare for using EHR, charge capture, claims and posting payment. In less than two days of beginning the process with the help from iPatientCare, we are the recipient of payment against our ICD-10 coded claims,” remarked Delinda from Riverside Medical Associates. “While the ICD-10 coding helps improve quality of patient care in multiple ways, efficient and user-friendly iPatientCare EHR and institutional billing solution with UB-04 claims capabilities and their friendly and helping people always ready to go out of the way and help us, more than makes up for the investment (of time and money) by allowing to stay on top of such industry-wide challenges and also the Meaningful Use reporting and receiving incentives much easier to come by.”

Tejhas Vyass and Suhag Pandya, who spear headed the ICD-10 implementation task force at iPatientCare were overjoyed and shared more good news saying, “Several other iPatientCare EHR and PM users are far into the process of receiving payment using our ICD-10 coding system. However, we congratulate Riverside Medical Associates for being the first recipient of the payment and convey great luck to many others whose payments are seen on the clearing house but not yet received in our PM System!”

iPatientCare EHR and PM System for both professional (CMS-1500) and institutional (UB-04) billing is ready and all set to function as one of the pioneering ICD-10 compliant unified, cloud based system. iPatientCare plans to host a special session for its valued customers to share their experiences with ICD-10 at its upcoming National User Conference (NUCON), November 6-7, 2015.

Chinese Revolution: Startups Attracting Investment at World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress

Asia-Pacific 2015 — Nov. 14-16, 2015, in Guilin, China — responds to nexus of healthcare information technology and aging population markets.

PR.com -October 22, 2015
– The nexus of medicine and an aging population of some 1.3 billion Chinese consumers will provide corporations and private investors with the impetus to capitalize on China’s emerging digital markets at the World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress – Asia-Pacific — Nov. 14-16, 2015, in Guilin, China, the Medical Tourism Association announced today.

Analytics firm IDC predicts the digital healthcare revolution in China could yield $5.6 billion in information technology investment by 2017. Startups including Guahao have begun to transform the way in which hospital visits in China are coordinated, while helping patients virtually jump the long lines that have plagued the public healthcare system.

“Despite government support for privatization, almost all healthcare in China is administered in public hospitals,” said Renée-Marie Stephano, President of the Medical Tourism Association®. “That means health startups need access to data — and that means access to connections including doctors, companies that purchase medical services and the government officials who are being pressured by increasing demands for care.”

Stephano said telemedicine technologies, such as mobile apps, wearable devices, and mhealth, can provide a scenario for Chinese patients to easily access point-of-diagnosis, care and follow-up that does not need to occur within hospitals walls.

Guahao, the Hangzhou-based healthcare service provider which announced the recent completion of a US$394 million round of funding from the likes of Hillhouse Capital and Goldman Sachs, is now poised to establish an Internet-based national treatment platform and set up five surgery centers.

Stephano said the China Congress is attracting buyers of healthcare from China and private and public sector organizations seeking partners for investment, capacity-building and hospital affiliations. The multi-year event will also include a five-day, three-city B2B and B2G trade mission with top Chinese executives.

“China is positioned to be one of the largest outbound medical tourism markets in the world, with rising income and a growing demand for the best medical treatments possible, coupled with the launch of health insurance for Chinese citizens that include travel benefits,” she said. “This event is where east meets west, with a focus on creating new business partnerships and affiliations with Chinese and Asian companies.”

Teladoc Conducts 1 Millionth Telehealth Visit

Business Wire – October 22, 2015 – Teladoc,  the nation’s first and largest telehealth platform, crossed an industry milestone this week with the completion of its 1 millionth telehealth visit. Each telehealth visit reflects an interaction between a board-certified, state-licensed physician and a patient in need of health care via video, phone or online.

“Hitting our 1 millionth visit underscores the growing adoption and utilization of telehealth services across the country,” said Jason Gorevic, Teladoc chief executive officer. “This Teladoc milestone is evidence of the value we deliver and the confidence our employers, members, physicians and hospital systems have in our ability to provide quality health care where and when people need it most.”

In addition to being the first telehealth provider to conduct 1 million physician visits, Teladoc also counts among its industry “firsts” as being the first and largest telehealth platform, and the first and only telehealth company to be certified by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for its physician credentialing process.
“As the nation continues to face growing health care challenges, employers, providers and patients are seeking innovative solutions to mounting health care costs and challenges accessing timely care,” said Krista Drobac of the Alliance for Connected Care. “Teladoc’s one millionth telehealth visit represents a milestone for the growth in patient access to this important technology.”
Teladoc helps resolve common, non-emergency issues and offers behavioral health, dermatological, tobacco cessation and sexual health services. Teladoc maintains a 92 percent medical resolution rate and a 95 percent patient satisfaction rate.

According to the National Business Group on Health, 74 percent of large employers are expected to offer telemedicine in 2016 compared to 48 percent in 2015 and only 28 percent in 2014.
Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII), America’s largest military shipbuilding company and a provider of manufacturing, engineering and management services to the nuclear energy, oil and gas markets, is among the growing number of Teladoc clients and large employers who are realizing the benefits of telehealth. Seeing the value that Teladoc brings to an increasingly complex health care environment, HII rolled out the Teladoc platform in July 2014 for more than 13,000 employees in an effort to help their employees and their families get convenient, affordable medical care.
“Our success as a company is tied to the health and safety of our employees and their families. This is why the health and welfare of our entire HII family is a primary focus for us,” said Bill Ermatinger, HII’s corporate vice president for human resources. “When it came time for us to add telemedicine as a component of our health care offerings that offers the best and most scalable solution to meet our employees’ health care needs, Teladoc was the clear choice. Not only have their telehealth services delivered exceptional care for our employees, it has proven to be a great investment in our workforce.”

The decision provided employees 24/7 access – including nights, weekends and holidays – to more than 2,000 physicians and behavioral health specialists. In addition to saving Huntington Ingalls Industries $483,005 in health care and productivity costs, their employees are delighted with the Teladoc program and reported a 97 percent “good” or “excellent” rating for their Teladoc physician.

About Teladoc
Teladoc, Inc. (NYSE: TDOC) is the nation’s first and largest telehealth platform, delivering on-demand health care anytime, from almost anywhere via mobile devices, the internet, secure video and phone. More than 12.5 million U.S. members are connected to Teladoc’s network of over 2,000 board-certified, state-licensed physicians and behavioral health professionals who provide care for a wide range of non-emergency conditions. With a median response time of less than 10 minutes, Teladoc physicians will perform more than 525,000 telehealth visits in 2015. Teladoc and its physicians consistently earn a 95 percent member satisfaction rating or better, and Teladoc is the only telehealth company to be certified by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for its physician credentialing process.

Recognized in June 2015 by MIT Technology Review as one of the “50 Smartest Companies,” Teladoc works with health plans, employers, organizations and individuals to provide access to affordable, high-quality health care on-demand. Teladoc is transforming the access, cost and quality dynamics of health care delivery. For more information, please visit teladoc.com, twitter.com/teladoc, facebook.com/teladoc or linkedin.com/teladoc.
